The self-induced gap soliton theory in monatomic lattices proposed by Kivshar [Phys. Rev. Lett. 70, 3055 (1993)] is generalized to one-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnets. It is shown that the self-induced magnetic gap solitons may exist due to a nonlinearity-induced gap in the continuum magnon spectrum. The evolution of these localized structures is studied in the phase plane and analytical expressions are obtained.
