The solution properties of monodisperse four and six branch star‐polystyrene samples have been investigated by viscosimetry, osmometry and light‐scattering. The ⊖ temperature measured by the temperature dependence of the second virial coefficient in cyclohexane is lower than 34.8°C and the expansion of the coil is decreased by branching. The behaviour of the branched polymer is controlled by the number and the length of the branches and no unique relation exists between hydrodynamic and geometric parameters. Average molecular weight data measured by light‐scattering are systematically lower than those obtained by osmometry.
