A photocatalytic decarboxylative/defluorinative [4 + 3] annulation of o -hydroxyphenylacetic acids and trifluoromethyl alkenes was developed. The reaction led to fluorinated dihydrobenzoxepines through two consecutive C–F substitutions in a CF 3 group.
