A study of the stress-strain properties of a range of wool types reveals large deviations from the expected relationship between work to stretch 30% and stress at 30% strain. These deviations, attributable to variations in diameter and in fibre substance, provide reasons for the poor relationship between work to stretch to 30% strain and creep behaviour in the post-yield region. The relationship between the latter and the stress developed at 30% strain is demonstrated.
