Quenching rate coefficients have been measured for interaction of N(2D) with N2 and with H2O. For N2, data were taken between 198 and 372 °K, and the rate expression is kN2=1.0×10−13 exp(−1020/RT) cm3 molec −1 ⋅sec−1. Reaction with H2O was measured only at 300 °K, and a rate coefficient of 2.5±0.5×10−10 cm3 molec−1 ⋅sec−1 was found. Earlier temperature-dependent measurements of N(2D) quenching by N2O were checked and confirmed.
