The dinuclear Ir complex 1 already reacts with excess NH3 at − 50°C to give not only mono– and dicationic complexes but also 2, the first amido-olefin complex. An NH activation under such exceptionally mild conditions is of interest for the catalytic functionalization of olefins with NH3.
