Photoconductivity measurements are reported in single-crystal p-SnS specimens in the spectral range 0.4-2.4 eV at sample temperatures between 35K and 300K. An indirect energy gap is found at 1.13+or-0.02 eV and 1.22+or-0.02 eV (77K); a direct gap is also found at 1.43+or-0.02 eV which does not shift with temperature. Peaks are observed in the photoconductive response below the band gap and these are attributed to transitions involving a double acceptor impurity.
