Polymerization of sarcosine N‐carboxyanhydride was carried out in N,N‐dimethylformamide solution with some primary and secondary amines as initiators. The polymerization obeyed the first‐order kinetics. Polysarcosines obtained were fractionated by gel‐chromatography. For lower oligomers, individual oligomer components were isolated and the distribution of the degree of polymerization was calculated directly from the area of each peak. The elution diagram for higher polymers showed a single broad envelope which was analyzed by the method of Fourier analysis. In either case, the Poisson‐type distribution was observed.
