The induced torque of sodium was measured over the temperature range 1.2-2.1 K in magnetic fields from 0.2 to 8.5 T. The induced torque as a function of magnetic field direction is fourfold in all fields and has superimposed sharp structure above 3-4 T. The magnitude and direction of the structure are strongly temperature dependent. The properties of the induced torque of sodium are the same as those found previously for potassium. The properties are in agreement with predictions of the charge-density-wave model and give evidence for a charge-density-wave ground state in sodium.
