The results of studies on the use of porous ceramic materials, fiberglass and carbon fabric as a carrier of microorganisms in the anaerobic processing of organic waste are presented. The texture of selected ceramic materials (highly porous cellular and lightweight fireclay foam) was studied. Research has shown the positive effect of both conductive media (carbon fabric) and highly porous ceramic materials on the process of anaerobic bioconversion of organic waste into biogas. The decisive influence on the growth of organic matter of biomass (up to 3 or more times) of the use of a carrier of maximum porosity with a developed surface has been shown. A system has been developed for purifying biogas from hydrogen sulfide based on red iron oxide pigment applied to highly porous cellular ceramics.
