A novel WLAN dual-band antenna with modified quasi-Yagi planar structure is presented in this paper. In practice, three shunt-connected dipoles with various lengths which represent reflector, resonator, and director, respectively, are etched in the ground plane. Meanwhile, a hook-shaped balun is proposed for the feed-line design. This antenna is characterized by dual-band impedance bandwidth and unidirectional end-fire radiation patterns. With return loss smaller than 10 dB, the dual bands cover the ranges 2.13–3.1 GHz and 5.15–5.9 GHz. Gain variations of 3.6–5.0 dBi in band I and 2.4–5.3 dBi in band II are obtained. The measurement and simulation results are discussed and presented.
