Oxidation with elemental tellurium of Na[Ph2PNPPh2] and [Li(thf)]2[tBuNP(μ-NtBu)2PNtBu] in the presence of tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda) provides access to anionic imido (1) and amido tellurophosphoranes (2). Complex 2 displays a novel tetradentate N,Te,Te,Te′ bonding mode.
