Expressions given in an earlier paper are applied to the X 1Σg+ ground state of hydrogen. The second-order approximations were found to have little effect upon the turning points of the curve, the major correction being an increase in the well depth of 10 cm−1. The method appears to have certain advantages over the Dunham procedure.
