A general expression for the variance–covariance matrix of estimates of gene frequency: the effects of departures from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium

Summary Error variances and covariances are derived for estimates of gene frequencies found by allele counting in cases where the Hardy–Weinberg law does not necessarily hold.
