A loculated pericardial effusion in a patient with previous lung transplant and aortic valve replacement caused subacute tamponade with impaired left ventricular filling and outflow tract obstruction.
Case Report (n=1)
Highlights the imaging features of loculated pericardial effusion causing subacute tamponade and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.
Supports consideration of loculated effusion in atypical tamponade with LVOT obstruction; leaves optimal management open pending larger series.
A patient with a previous lung transplant and aortic valve replacement had progressive dyspnea. He presented with subacute tamponade secondary to a loculated pericardial effusion that caused impaired left ventricular filling and outflow tract obstruction secondary to distortion of the mitral valve apparatus. We demonstrate the imaging features of this presentation. (Level of Difficulty: Intermediate.)

Luong et al. (2021) conducted a case report in Loculated pericardial effusion with subacute tamponade (n=1). Loculated pericardial effusion was evaluated. A loculated pericardial effusion in a patient with previous lung transplant and aortic valve replacement caused subacute tamponade with impaired left ventricular filling and outflow tract obstruction.
