The Spectrum of Polypharmacy

In Brief Chronically ill elders are at risk for the hazards of multiple medications, but children with difficult-to-manage chronic conditions are also at risk. This article explores the concepts of rational and irrational polypharmacy and provides a reference for disease management that includes aspects of polypharmancy that are likely to expand with research and new medications.
