Does early use of bromocriptine reduce symptom duration and mortality in patients with neuroleptic malignant syndrome?
Early use of bromocriptine in neuroleptic malignant syndrome may reduce symptom duration and improve survival.
Hypothesis-generating for early bromocriptine in NMS; controlled trials needed before any practice change.
From our four cases, we conclude that prompt diagnosis, intensive care monitoring and support, and early use of bromocriptine can markedly reduce the duration of the symptom complex of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, as well as significantly improve the 20% mortality previously reported.
