The basic theory and formulae of the torque compensation cam mechanism which minimize the fluctuating torque on the input shaft by adding inverse torque have been established. It has been known that TCC can substantially improve the dynamic characteristics of the output member of the cam mechanism. The cam for the torque compensation however, is mounted on a common input shaft in the previous studies. In this work, the cam for the torque compensation is mounted directly on the output member of the cam mechanism so that the fluctuating torque does not travel to the input shaft upon adding inverse torque to the output member of the mechanism. This type of torque compensation is called the `direct' type. In this report, the nondimensional cam curve for the direct torque compensation cam is derived, and the features of the curve are investigated. Moreover, a new feasible cam curve is created for the marginal case in which the velocity is not continuous for the ordinary cam curve.
