The title compound has been synthesized and characterized by X‐ ray crystallography. Thermolysis in benzene at 80°C affords a 3: 1 mixture of methane and ethane, whereas reaction with benzyl bromide affords solely ethane and [Pd(CH2Ph)(Br)(Me2NCH2CH2NMe2)]; other preparatively useful reactions are described.
