25Mg and 14N zero field nuclear quadrupole resonance are observed in chlorophyll-a and magnesium phthalocyanine by proton nuclear magnetic double resonance. In phthalocyanine, the observed resonances correspond to a quadrupole coupling constant of 3.79 MHz for 25Mg and 1.81 MHz for the 14N ligands. In chlorophyll, the 25Mg coupling constant is 3.73 MHz.
