The techniques for NMR measurements at temperatures of 1‐120 K are discussed. Various cryogenic methods for attaining low temperatures are compared. Several designs and design criteria for the construction of low‐temperature NMR probes are presented. This article is intended to assist workers first entering the field of low‐temperature NMR.
