Scarcely over 100 cases of intussusception of the appendix have been reported since the first case was described in 1858. The authors review the literature with special reference to types of intussusception and associated radiologic findings. Type 5 intussusception, complete inversion of the appendix, was reviewed in depth, and 2 new cases added. These last 2 are believed to be the only cases of this type to be diagnosed radiographically. Five of the 15 cases of complete inversion were not examined roentgenographically.
