An analogy between diblock copolymer melts and incompatible homopolymer blends is used to introduce a model of chain stretching and local segregation in diblock copolymers. This model describes the observed non-Gaussian behavior of diblock copolymers in the disordered state and is used in a scaling analysis that exhibits the nonuniversal nature of the high scaling molecular weight power law for the collective correlation length in the intermediate segregation regime.
