The effect of HAF black on the self-adhesion of natural rubber was studied during vulcanization. Controlled interfacial chemical crosslinking and interdiffusion of the adherends were made to ensure interfacial failure during adhesion testing. It was found that HAF black increased the self-adhesion strength of natural rubber compounds.
