In this paper we present a report on the effect of correlation in the 3 d n -core on the transition probability of the resonance transition in Cu II, 3 d 10 1 S → 3 d 9 4 p 1 P . The f -value has been calculated using the MCHF method. Three different approximations have been used with varying amounts of correlation: (i) no correlation, (ii) correlation in 3 d 10 of the initial state, (iii) as in (ii) as well as 4 p correlation with 3 d 9 in the final state.
