reported a recessive mutant, tra, in Drosophila melanogastey which transformed diploid females into sterile males. The tra gene was located at 45 map units on the third chromosome. Present paper describes a mutant, tra-2, which is very similar to tra in its action but is located on the second chromosome. Interactions of tra-2 with the SR (cytoplasmic sex-ratio) factor and with the tra were also examined.
