The influence of fasting on the stability of the glycogen body was investigated in a single study using White Leghorn hens. Four days without feeding had almost completely depleted the glycogen stores. However, 8 days of fasting were needed to observe a depression in glycogen body weight. Refeeding for 43 hrs. after 8 days of fasting had no effect on weight of the glycogen body or its glycogen stores.
