The single material approach to integrated optoelectronics has been augmented by research into multi-material, or hybrid integration of compound semiconductor optoelectronic devices with host substrates which include silicon circuits and waveguiding/switching materials. In this paper, one such method of integrating compound semiconductor electronics with silicon circuits and other arbitrary host substrate materials is explored.
