Lactation in pregnant rabbits was induced with human placental lactogen or cortisone acetate or both. Placental lactogen alone or in combination with cortisone, injected from day 15 to day 19 of gestation, produced striking mammary gland development and milk secretion without disturbing the pregnancy. There was marked synergism between the 2 substances. (Endocrinology79:, 212, 1966)
