To the Editor.— Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution has been used in medical practice since 1856 as a disinfectant. Transient whitening of the skin of the fingertips is a common occurrence after short contact with a 3% H2O2solution. In contradistinction to the skin whitening, a blanching phenomenon of skin in contact with a 3% H2O2solution was recently noted, an observation not previously described.
