Nuclear magnetic resonance in LaNi5

Abstract

Proton and La139 nuclear magnetic resonance measurements have been performed on LaNi5, LaNi5 hydrides, and LaNi5Hx with ternary additions. With ternary additions, the activation energy for proton diffusion remained unchanged, but the motionally narrowed linewidth broadened. The quadrupole interaction on the La site has been determined in LaNi5 and LaNi5Hx.
