Abstract —Chlorophyll‐ a enhances the photoemission from the microsomeltert‐butyl hydroperoxide system without affecting the rates of O 2 uptake and lipid peroxidation. This photoemission, due to energy transfer from triplet carbonyls to microsome‐bound chlorophyll‐ a , shows that microsomal membranes produce a significant amount of excited triplet carbonyls during lipid peroxidation.
