Measurements have been made of detachment from F - by electron impact for energies between 13 and 1000 eV. The cross section attained a maximum value of 2.74*10 -16 cm 2 at 68 eV. Thomson's classical scaling law was used to compare measured detachment cross sections of H - , C - , O - and F - . The scaled cross sections differed by a factor of less than four.
