A weak electron resonance has been observed in the amylose-iodine complex. It is shown that if the iodine atoms in each chain are covalently bonded to each other, the band of the 5pσ states is only partially filled. Hence the row of atoms will have metallic properties including weak paramagnetism and electronic conductivity.
