The relative cross sections for electron-impact ionization of Fe, Co, Ni, and Ag have been measured using a crossed-beam technique with mass-spectrometric analysis of the ions. For 60-eV electrons, the relative cross sections for single ionization are 34, 39, 33, and 35, respectively. The available absolute and relative cross-section data show singificant deviations from the correlations proposed by Otvos and Stevenson and by Lampe, Franklin, and Field.
