The application of an electronic pasture probe to the measurement of rape is described. Measurements taken over two years demonstrated that good relationships could be established between probe readings and parameters of crop yield. Crop height, spatial distribution of crop profile, crop density and percentage DM were found to he significant factors in obtaining meaningful results.
