A method has been derived to find the potential of diatomic molecules from the given experimental eigenvalues and rotational constants. The potential is found by computing the coordinates of the turning points. The method is different from the semiclassical RKR method and is based on simple and straightforward quantum mechanical principles. The present method is applied to the state B 1 Sigma u + of the H 2 molecule. The results are compared with other results of the same state and show a marked improvement.
