Photoconductivity and photoluminescence measurements are performed on PbSe films obtained by chemical “anorganic” (CAD) and “organic” (COD) depositions. A large “blue shift” is observed in the photoconductivity and photoluminescence spectra of the “as-grown” PbSe films, as compared with PbSe single crystal. The spectra are shifted towards low energies as a consequence of the thermal annealing process which increases the size of the crystallites. The shift can be explained by the “quantum size” effect.
