A patient is presented with an unusual type of variable erythrokeratoderma exhibiting a unique combination of features: Onset at birth with generalized erythroderma; successive development of figurate variable erythemas involving the entire skin; diffuse universal hyperkeratosis including palms and soles and, in addition, massive patchy hyperkeratotic lesions of unusual extent; and a distinct histopathological picture. Enzyme-histochemical studies were performed. The classification of variable erythrokeratodermas is discussed.
