Extracts obtained from the leaves of Annona muricata, Ficus polita, Luffa aegyptiaca, Momordica charantia and Newbouldia laevis and from the twigs and leaves of Moringa pterygosperma were screened for antimalarial action against Plasmodium falciparum cultured in vitro. All six extracts were found to inhibit the growth of P. falciparum in a dose‐dependent manner. The IC50 values varied from 12.6 μg/mL for Newbouldia laevis to 68.4 μg/mL for Momordica charantia.
