SUMMARY Ribavirin had marked in vitro activity against feline calicivirus, strain 255, and canine parainfluenza virus, but showed only slight antiviral effect on feline viral rhinotracheitis virus. Antiviral activity was manifested by partial to complete suppression of viral cytopathic effect and of viral replication, depending on concentration of ribavirin in the culture medium and dosage of viral inoculum. Concentrations of ribavirin as small as 3.2 μg/ml and 1.0 μg/ml showed some activity against feline calicivirus and canine parainfluenza virus, respectively.
