The electrical conductivity and dielectric behavior of hot-pressed AlN from 300 to 1,000 K and at 60 Hz to 10 kHz is reported. Temperature dependence of dc conductivity is also measured. To understand the effect of porosity on various electrical and dielectric parameters, measurements were made on four samples having different levels of porosity (0.2 to 15 vol%). The results are interpreted in terms of closed and open porosity.
