SUMMARY In the field, sclerotia of Pleurotus tuber‐regium were found in dead trees and fallen logs of Daniella oliveri. Sclerotia of P. tuber‐regium were produced in the laboratory when the fungus was cultured in moist drill dusts of D oliveri and Elaeis guineensis. The resulting sclerotia were viable and had features similar to those found in the natural habitat.
