Distribution of Kits Five clinicians, each associated with the Intensive Care Unit or the Accident and Emergency Department of a London hospital agreed to take part in the trial. They were requested to collect sufficient blood on admission of the patient to allow analysis by the kit and subsequent routine analysis by the Poisons Unit. In addition, they were asked to comment on the ease of use of the kit and to submit any suggestions for improvement. Further evaluation has been made by laboratory workers drawn from the Poisons Unit staff and other hospital laboratories.
