Through the use of anodic polarization studies in Ringer's solution, the electrochemical behavior of γ 1 phase of dental amalgam (Ag 2 Hg 3 ) and γ 1 containing dissolved tin is compared with that for the γ 2 phase in dental amalgam (Sn 7-8 Hg). The results indicate that when tin is dissolved in γ 1 it does not affect the electrochemical behavior of that phase.
