The excretion of two metabolites of prostaglandin E2 (tetranor‐prostaglandin B1 and tetranor‐prostaglandin E1) in rat urine has been determined using an electron capture technique. The daily excretion in female rats ranged from 2.16 to 3.93 μg/kg and in male rats from 2.04 to 2.63 μg/kg. When the rats were exposed to cold stress excretion of the metabolites increased 2 to 2.5‐fold.
