Computational modeling demonstrates uniform seismic response distributions in frame structures, suggesting effective mitigation of weak-story collapse.
In this paper, a uniform story drift ratio or absolute acceleration optimization method is first proposed to address the weak story issue in frame structures subjected to earthquakes. The cross sections of the frame beams and columns are selected as optimization variables, and intelligent algorithms and finite element platforms are utilized for the collaborative calculation to optimize the structures. The results indicate that this method can make the response distributions of frames more uniform.
