Software evaluation demonstrates automated metadata quality assessment across dozens of library catalogues, highlighting typical cataloguing errors and standardized schema validation.
QA catalogue is a set of software packages for bibliographical record quality assessment. It reads MARC21, UNIMARC or PICA files (in different serialisation formats), analyses some quality dimensions, and provides a lightweight, web-based user interface for a quality report. As a research software, we analysed several dozen library catalogues with it, while it is also used in production by different libraries to analyse their own catalogues. In the session I will describe some measurable quality dimensions and typical issues found in libraries. I will also explain a machine readable way, Avram schema to describe the metadata schema themselves.
