License plate detection methods based on cv2

This paper presents a smart tolling and vehicle identification system that integrates Arduino-based Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) with FASTag technology. The proposed system uses an OCR-based camera module to capture and recognize vehicle license plates and an RFID reader to verify FASTag information. The recognized vehicle details are compared with a central database to authenticate the vehicle and automate toll collection and access control. The system combines OpenCV-based image processing, Tesseract OCR, RFID, Arduino, and database verification to reduce human intervention, improve security, and enhance toll collection efficiency. The proposed approach can be applied to toll booths, parking facilities, and restricted access areas.
