Crystals of the title complex 1 appear red in transmitted light and green in reflected light. 1 was obtained in 89% yield upon reaction of [Rh(PMe3)3Cl] with 0.5 equivalents of SnCl2 in THF. The structure of this electron-rich complex is characterized by an angular RhSnRh unit (142.52)3(°). An analogous Ir2Sn-complex has also been synthesized.
